The Christmas Story is Susan Lordi's largest-scale Nativity scene. This two-piece set of Marie and Joseph coordinates with the Gentle Animals of the Stable. It is the centerpiece of the Nativity; the elements interact when placed together: Marie faces Joseph, sheltered by his right arm. Joseph's staff and cloak form a protective shield around his new family. 'The Christmas Story is a story of the past... but the overwhelming emotions of holding a newborn, starting a new family, and wanting to protect them forever are present today in every culture and at every age.'
